Substance Misuse Support Worker - Women\'s Aid East and Midlothian

Permanent: Full-Time 35 Hours per week. Hours are worked Monday - Friday although occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Salary: £21,559 to £23,301 per annum.

Holidays: 30 days annual leave, rising to 40 days annual leave after one year of employment.

Pension: 5% employer contribution to a personal pension plan on completion of 3 months employment.

The Social Care Community Partnership are currently recruiting for a Substance Misuse Support Worker on an exclusively retained basis for Women\'s Aid East and Midlothian (WAEML).

This post is available on a fixed term contract until 30th September 2021. As an Outreach post, travel across East Lothian and Midlothian is required therefore a full current driving licence and constant access to a car is essential.

WAEML provides information, support and accommodation to women (including trans-women), children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. If you can commit to upholding the rights of women, children and young people, this may be the job for you.

What WAEML are looking for:

You will be an experienced support worker delivering individual and group work support to women who are experiencing co-occurring domestic abuse and substance misuse as well be an enthusiastic feminist who shares WAEML\'s core values. You will be expected to demonstrate a gender-based and trauma-informed approach to service delivery and will be expected to take a multi-agency approach to your work.

You will ideally have a minimum of 1 years work experience within the field of substance misuse. Membership of the PVG scheme is an essential requirement and you should be qualified to a minimum of SVQ 3 in Social Services or equivalent.

Key responsibilities:

Strong understanding of the concepts of recovery and working with individuals to reach their goals.
Knowledge of the effects domestic abuse can have on women.
Excellent communications skills and ability to build rapport and trust with individuals.
Able to assess the needs of vulnerable women.
To meet with women as a key worker on a regular and planned basis, developing and reviewing individual support plans and risk assessments.
Experience of delivering and facilitating group work with vulnerable women.
Experience of working in partnership with other agencies.
